Manor Road

Location: east London

Status: completed

Architect at initial concept to construction completion

The project provides a significant transformation of a dark and dated traditional Victorian terrace into a light-filled, generous and comfortable home for a young family. The brief was for the reconfiguration and extension of the existing rigid ground floor to be more open, flexible, bright and that could spatially accommodate the couple, their two children and their two cats as they grew and the families needs changed. The project removed unsafe and asbestos-filled historic ad-hoc extensions and replaced them with a modern addition that is distinctive yet complements the historic terrace fabric and design details.  The result is a crafted, contemporary architectural intervention that breathes life into a dilapidated house that had been neglected over many years.
